Thomas Andrews was the principal architect of the Titanic. He was travelling on board during her fateful maiden voyage, when the ship hit an iceberg. After examining the damage, Andrews determined that the ship would sink, and immediately set about evacuating the passengers. Andrews died in the sinking, but his actions were said by many survivors to be nothing short of heroic.
